Danish Medical Association of Acupuncture was founded in 1976 and has 850 members.
Danish Medical Association of Acupuncture is a professional scientifically based society of MD’s with the following objectives:

• to support and contribute to the developement of a scientific basis
  for acupuncture, and to the achievement of scientific documentation and
  evidence of the clinical effect of acupuncture
• to promote that acupuncture in its various forms will
  co-operate with established medical care - and in the long term will be
  part of public health service.
• to provide education about the various forms of acupuncture to
  the members of the association and to other MD’s, dentists,
  veterinarians, and students from these professions.
• to facilitate public understanding of medical acupuncture and
  to inform about the increasing range of treatments, that acupuncture in
  co-operation with established medical care can offer
